Dr Selva Vathany Pillai passed away in a tragic accident on 3 April 2018.
In 2009 she came into the limelight for exposing the mismanagement of Hospital Gombak for Orang Asli where she was working as a Doctor. The Gombak Orang Asli Hospital was allegedly to be catering to a large number of non-orang asli patients, including foreign workers, and for its alleged sub-standard treatment of orang asli patients.
Following her official complaint to the Health Ministry, she was transferred to Kedah and received show cause letter from the Jabatan Hal Ehwal Orang Asli (JHEOA). Since 2012 she has been based in France working for IMEA France.
